The tough life in the far East

In the eastern part of the country, Tajikistan, lies the autonomous province of Gorno-Badakhshan.

This autonomous region covers about 45% of Tajikistan's land area. However, only about 2.5% of the total population of Tajikistan resides in it. This is mainly due to the region's geographical location, ranging from 1200m to 7495m, as well as its lack of infrastructure.

Due to weather conditions, geographical location, and inadequate infrastructure, life in Gorno-Badakhshan is often challenging.

Many of the existing problems can only be overcome by the local people through unity and determination.
